How to Summit When You are Ballin’ on a Budget

How to Summit When You are Ballin’ on a Budget

The 2023 YSC Summit is next month. You want to attend, but it’s not in your budget.

We get it! For a lot of us, money is tight, keeping us from doing the things that we really want to do. Luckily, attending the YSC Summit doesn’t have to be one of those things. With a few penny-pinching ideas, involvement from your loved ones and a bit of fiscal creativity, there’s still a chance that the YSC Summit could be a possibility for you. Check out a few of our suggestions on ways to make your YSC Summit experience more affordable below!

Meals On Us

You won’t have to spend tons of money to have a great time at the YSC Summit. While you are at the conference, YSC will provide your meals; this includes coffee and snacks. Just think, having your meals covered means you may be able to bring a little cash for tipping, extra goodies like the YSC Merchandise capsule collection and shopping in Charlotte.

Find Cheap Flights

If you are having a hard time finding an affordable airline, let a travel metasearch site do the work for you! According to Scott’s Cheap Flights, three great tools to use to search for options are Google Flights, Priceline and Momondo. We also suggest Skiplagged and Expedia. Also, did you know that traveling on certain days could get you a cheaper price? Try traveling on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday. Even better - consider traveling early or late. Another great idea - use an app like Hopper to set fare alerts to track specific flights.

Carpool

Gas prices are outrageous, but carpooling is one way to make the drive cost-effective; and if you are in the Charlotte region, driving may be a more fiscally feasible option anyway.  One great idea is to utilize Google Maps to plot your route and use the GasBuddy App to compare fuel prices along the way in real-time.

Share Expenses with Others in the Summit Facebook Group

Did you know that we have a YSC Summit Facebook group? Try finding someone within the group who is looking for a roommate to save on hotel expenses! The group could also be used to find someone in the area to carpool with and split the expenses. Think road trip! You and your new travel buddy could even pack a cooler full of snacks and drinks to save on meals.

Ask for Help

Consider asking your best friends, family or loved ones for help. You could arrange a virtual gathering to inform them about the YSC Summit, explaining what it would mean to you if you were able to attend. Give them a breakdown of your costs and ask them to brainstorm ways to make the trip more affordable. Another idea is to be direct. Give them specifics on how they can help. Make it easy for them to contribute to your trip as a gift by providing them with your CashApp, Venmo or Paypal link. When you return from the YSC Summit, be sure to express your gratitude by showing them pictures of your experience!

See, the 2023 YSC Summit doesn’t have to be unattainable. With strategically budgeted funds, you  can still make plans to travel to North Carolina and connect with the people who just “get it”. Save those coins and join us in ballin’ on a budget - Summit-style!
