Meet Katie
Diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer at the age of 36 with no family history or palpable abnormalities, Katie Parker gained a passion and purpose for not only educating others on the importance of early detection but to help those diagnosed with breast cancer live their best life. Since her diagnosis, Katie has had the opportunity to participate in multiple breast cancer awareness events including the 2011 General Mills National Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign called Pink Together and was the recipient of the Extra Mile Day Award 2012 for the city she resides in for her work on a local breast cancer fundraiser. Katie has blogged for Pink Lotus Breast Center's Breast Cancer 101 and fightlikeagirl.com. In 2016, Katie became a State Leader, Face 2 Face Coordinator and Peer Mentor for the Young Survival Coalition, a certified Education Ambassador for Bright Pink and was selected to be the Honorary Bat Girl for the Colorado Rockies. Katie also serves as a Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program Peer Review Panelist and was part of the 2019 Scientist <-> Survivor program for the American Association for Cancer Research.
